Amazon has recently launched an online grocery delivery service in the Seattle area. Touting their selection of fresh and organic goods, they offer free pickup and delivery (with a minimum order). If you don't live in Seattle, you can sign up for a possible future location in your area.
Honestly, between our fantastic local farmers' market and Amazon Grocery + Prime, I'm not even sure we'd use Amazon Fresh. :-)
I'm working on moving mylifeonline.net back to Movable Type. It's Been Decided. :-)
I've just had the most insane time trying to get back my posts on Vox. At this time, there's no easy way to export entries to import to MT, and that just sucks all kinds of evil.
I'll be crossposting here to Vox, and I'll keep up with comments, too, so many of you won't even notice the difference, ideally. I've got Flock going again (yay!) and so posting will hopefully be more frequent again. I've been away for too long, but it'll be nice to be back and sharing. Because..
Sharing is Caring. :-)
And I have friends here on Vox, which is truly too much to pass up on. :-) I have all your blogs in my RSS reader, so I'll won't be far. I promise!
Hello? Is anyone there?
Really, I swear. I think we need some time apart. Just a bit to figure out what we really want. It's just not working out like I thought. Maybe I had unreasonable expectations. But sometimes, in the middle of the night, you can't even get your own Rich Text Editing to work right. How do you think that makes me feel?
I did the MT thing before, years ago. It was wild and rough, comment spam up the whazoo. I wanted out, something quiet, stable, reliable. I thought that was you, but maybe I was wrong.
I miss being.. free. I have so much freedom with my other webapps. I can update my task list on Remember the Milk so many different ways, I can't even decide which one to stick and use: IM, Twitter, a Dashboard widget, Google Calendar, mobile and more. I thought we'd be something like that. Fun, and exciting, and right on the edge. One of those relationships.
You have a reasonably nice Flickr interface. It would have been nice to have more access to Flickr functions like friends' photos, and groups, but they say every relationship needs compromise, right? But even the YouTube interface is lacking; is the search box searching names, or tags, or what? Books is just as bad and you're the one profiting from our libraries and reviews!
The more I write this, the more used I feel.
I thought we'd get to design our own templates together eventually, not just some cheap headers and a used bit of borders and backgrounds. You only let me add my own sidebar content so recently, almost a guilty concession on your part. You think I don't notice these things?
Where's the slick mobile interface? MT has an iPhone interface. Every other major blog service offers up to complete control of design through CSS. I know you're trying to save me and yourself, a la MySpace, but really. C'mon. Adding commercially branded templates doesn't cut it. Domain pointing. Spam control. More sidebar control with widgets, or something similar. Ability to run my own ads, since you're also profiting from ads on my blog. APIs, so we can have third-party tools for blogging and editing. Even Blogger offers all this.
And if you think you'll be swamped without enough profit, I'd be happy to pay $25/year for a decent product, just as I do with Flickr, Recipezaar, Remember the Milk and other sites that don't shortchange their user base.
I just don't understand you. You have access to all sorts of cool, sweet tech. We've been together for over a year now, and I just don't see enough changes. I'm sooo ready to walk out that door.
Even then - I have all this content on here now. Can I get my stuff back?
Malaysia was fun! I'm still sorting through pics but I have a few ready. :-) I got my scuba license sorted out, yay! Got some cozy time in with Grandma and hung out with my crazy cousins. Ah, good times.
We spent a week on Pulau Perhentian Besar - or Perhentian Island. So beautiful and relaxing, and so much fun with all the family there. We went diving together, and snorkeling and sea kayaking. The spouse-unit even went snorkeling, which was hilarious fun!
We also spent a couple of days at my aunt's place on the east coast, Coconut Grove. It was pretty exciting, as there was only a one room "shack", and we camped out in tents at night. :-)
Then a few days at my grandmother's house in Kajang and back home, all too soon. *sigh* Can't wait until next year!
In trying to figure out how much each suitcase should weigh on my upcoming trip to Malaysia, I found the following:
Two (2) pieces of baggage (measured together) of which the sum of the greatest outside linear dimensions does not exceed 107 inches (269cms), provided the sum of the outside linear dimensions of each bag does not exceed 62 inches (158cms),and that the weight of each does not exceed 70lbs (32kgs).
Reminds me of the Riddle of the Sphinx...
I finally got a CatGenie selfwashing litterbox and it's been great. No more smelly litterbox, no more hauling cat litter, no more tossing it out and feeling that old landfill guilt. It's been running for over a month, even while we were out of town for a week, with no problems. All our housesitters have to do is flush the toilet. :-) Very cool and the CatGenie people have the best customer service I've ever encountered.
