first-grade heaven
Dredged up from an old QOTD:
Who was your best (or worst) elementary school teacher?
My best elementary school teacher was Mrs. Vale in first grade. She was plump and cheery, with red hair and either blue or green eyes. She frequently wore pink, and in all honesty, looked rather like an overgrown child herself. Her hair was always in two long pigtails and you could tell she really loved kids. All the kids in her class loved her, too.
Especially because of Mrs. McKenzie next door - aka. the spawn of Satan. She was everything that Mrs. Vale was not, sans the plump part. She had short brown hair and her face was constantly red from screaming at her kids. I kid you not, we could frequently hear her yelling through the wall since our homerooms were right next to each other. Maybe now I would consider her tough and disciplined with her kids, but back then, I was a scared little six-year-old and she was mean, unfair and terrifying.
